Sensor Observation Service (SOS)

The Sensor Observation Service (SOS) is a web administration to question continuous sensor information and sensor information time arrangement and is some piece of the Sensor Web. The web benefit and both document organizations are open principles and determinations of the same name characterized by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).

On the off chance that the SOS underpins the transactional profile (SOS-T), new sensors could be enlisted on the administration interface and measuring qualities be embedded. A SOS usage might be utilized both for information from in-situ and also remote sensing sensors. Besides, the sensors could be either versatile or stationary.

The playing point of the SOS is that sensor information - of any sort - is accessible in an institutionalized organization utilizing institutionalized operations. Hence the electronic access to sensor information is disentangled.

Observations and Measurements

Observations and Measurements (O&M) is an International Standard which describes a theoretical scheme encoding for observations, and for traits engaged in sampling when making observations. While the O&M standard was built up in the context of geographic information systems, the model is derived from generic patterns proposed by Fowler and Odell, and is not restricted to spatial information. O&M is one of the core standards in the OGC Sensor Web Enablement suite, offering the response model for Sensor Observation Service (SOS).

O&M identifies a core set of properties for an observation:
  • feature of interest
  • observed property
  • result
  • procedure - the instrument, algorithm or process used (which may be described using SensorML)
  • phenomenon time - the real-world time associated with the result
  • result time - the time when the result was generated
  • valid time - the period during which the result may be used

Observation

Observation is either an activity of a living being, such as a human, consisting of receiving knowledge of the outside world through the senses, or the recording of data using scientific instruments. The term may also refer to any data collected during this activity. An observation can also be the way you look at things or when you look at something.
